Over the last few years we have worked very hard to get our achievements in sport recognised. We have had members staff receive awards for their dedication and innovation in sport as well as several pupils and teams for their outstanding efforts and achievements.
For four years now we have received the School Games Gold Award. This award is for the provision of sporting activities and pupil participation. We are very proud of our extra curricular timetable and very pleased to have maintained Gold Award status. This year, if we once again achieve our Gold Award, we will be attempting to get the Platinum Award!
In 2016 we were finally awarded the School Games Gold Award for the year 2015/16 after several years of achieving silver. The award is for the provision of sporting activities provided, pupil participation throughout the school and school representation in School Games competitions. We are very proud of our extra curricular timetable and pleased at last to have maintained the GOLD AWARD status whilst continuing to develop our clubs on offer. We now offer leadership opportunities for many children; with House Sports Captains and Leaders selected at the beginning of the year. We encourage all children to lead an active lifestyle – reminding them of both the health and social benefits of remaining active and participating in team sports.
In 2018, four children, acting as Purbrook Sports Ambassadors, attended a celebration at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton to mark our achievements. The children participated in various activities, met famous sportspeople and toured the facility.
We have worked hard to ensure that we maintain the GOLD AWARD.
