This half term, Year 6 are investigating climate change and will be looking at the question, ‘Are we a wasteful nation?’. The focus of their learning will centre around the 3Rs (reduce, reuse and recycle) looking at how instead of sending clothing and footwear to landfill we buy or pass on pre-loved clothing.

Yesterday, Vintage trainers came to speak to the children to explain the benefits of buying pre-loved items.

As part of the project, Year 6 children will design a poster to inform consumers about the benefits of recycling. The posters will be displayed at Vintage trainers in Waterlooville and 10 children will be selected to visit the shop, and select a pair of trainers to keep as their prize. Year 6 will also be writing to Nike to persuade them to include a recycle message in every pair of trainers that they sell.
